Brow Goals! Finding Your Perfect Brow Routine
Did you know that brows are one of the most powerful features on your face?
Whether you're into soft, natural brows or bold, dramatic arches, getting the right shape can totally change your look. Today, we’re diving into everything you need to know about achieving the perfect brow—from makeup tips to cosmetic treatments like microblading.
And of course, we’ll break down the differences between brow products like pomade, pencils, powders, and gels so you can find your brow bestie.
Why Brows Matter
It’s no secret that brow trends have evolved over the years—from the pencil-thin brows of the early 2000s to the fuller, natural brows we see today. But despite all these changes, one thing is still true:
Brows are the frame of your face.
A well-shaped brow can lift your eyes, balance your features, and make you look more polished—even when you’re rocking a no-makeup look.
If you’ve ever over-plucked, struggled with uneven brows, or just weren’t sure what products to use, I’ve been there! Let’s talk about how to get the brow look you’ve always wanted.
Brow Makeup: What Works for You?
There’s no shortage of brow products out there. But how do you know which one is right for you? Here’s an easy guide from a pro…
BROW POMADE
Pomade is a creamy, super-pigmented product that gives you bold, defined brows. If you’re looking for a strong, sculpted brow that lasts all day (and night), this is your go-to. Apply it with an angled brush for precise application, but take your time—pomades require a little practice!
Best for: Long-lasting, bold brows with full coverage. Perfect if you have sparse or patchy brows.

BROW PENCIL
Pencils are a classic for a reason—they're easy to control and great for creating natural, hair-like strokes. If you're going for an everyday look, pencils let you fill in gaps while keeping things soft and natural.
Best for: Creating fine, natural strokes. Ideal for beginners and has a soft, polished look.
Brow Powder
For a soft, natural finish, powders are your best bet. They help fill in sparse areas and are perfect for anyone who wants definition without making their brows look too harsh.
Best for: A subtle, polished brow look. Perfect if you prefer a soft definition.

Brow Gel
There are two types: tinted and clear. Tinted gels add color and fullness, while clear gels set your brows in place. If you have full brows and just want to tame them, a good brow gel is your best friend.
Best for: Adding volume and setting your brows in place. Great for fuller brows or a quick, low-maintenance groom.
The Difference Between Brow Products
With so many brow products out there, how do you pick? Here’s a quick cheat sheet:
Pomade vs. Pencil: Pomade gives you bold, dramatic brows, while pencils are better for creating natural, feathery strokes.
Powder vs. Gel: Powders offer a soft, natural finish, while gels give volume and hold, especially if you have full brows already.
Mix and match! Don’t be afraid to experiment with different products to create your ideal brow. Want bold, statement brows? Go for a pomade or tinted gel. Prefer a natural look? Stick to pencils or powders for a softer finish.
Choosing the Right Brow Color
Now, let’s talk about color. Here’s the thing—brows shouldn’t steal the show.
Brows should not be the main character on your face.
They’re there to complement your face, not overpower it.
Avoid going too dark: I almost never reach for black-brow products, even on my most melanated clients. Instead, I go for deep, rich browns. They soften the look and make the face appear more balanced.
Consider undertones: Choosing a brow product with the wrong undertone can throw off your whole look. If your skin has cool undertones, stick with a cooler brow color. For warmer undertones, choose a warmer shade.
Mix your colors: Don’t be afraid to use a deeper shade toward the outer edge and a lighter shade near the inner part of your brows for a natural gradient.
And always use a spoolie to blend! It softens the product and gives you a more natural finish.
Cosmetic Brow Treatments: Microblading and Beyond
If you're looking for a longer-lasting solution, cosmetic treatments like microblading, brow lamination, and tinting are great options.
Microblading creates hair-like strokes that last up to 1-2 years with touch-ups.
Brow Lamination lifts and straightens brow hairs for a fuller look, lasting 6-8 weeks.
Tinting adds color to your brows and lasts about 3-4 weeks.
These cosmetic treatments give you that "woke-up-like-this" brow without daily makeup.
Final Thoughts: Finding Your Brow Routine
Brows are personal—what works for one person might not work for someone else. The key is to play around with products and techniques until you find what makes you feel your best. Whether you’re filling them in with makeup or trying out a cosmetic treatment like microblading, there’s no wrong way to achieve your perfect brow.
