Why You Should Take That Solo Trip
Have you ever thought about taking a solo trip?
Let me tell you—there’s something so freeing about getting away, even if it’s just for a few days. Last week, I celebrated my birthday at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa in Arizona, and it was everything I needed.
So many of the women I met on this trip were moms and wives who simply needed a break. When you travel solo, you realize you’re never truly alone. I genuinely believe that God places angels along your path to keep you safe and protected—you never know who you’ll meet. Over the years, I’ve met incredible people from all over the world by keeping an open heart (while, of course, staying smart and safe).
This trip wasn’t comped or sponsored, and I want to thank the team at CIVANA for treating me so kindly—with no strings attached. Here’s a quick rundown of what I loved most:
The Resort Experience
CIVANA is not your normal wellness resort; this is some stuff out of a movie. It’s the kind of place where you can go to unwind, heal, and truly relax. Whether you’re looking to reconnect with yourself or just need a break, they offer so much:
Spa Treatments: Ranked #3 Spa in the “World's Best Awards” by Travel & Leisure. Their spa services will leave you floating.
Classes: Aerial yoga (which I didn’t get to try, still sad about it), breathing therapy, Kundalini yoga, and sound therapy were all amazing. You name it, they have it!
Spiritual and Intimacy Coaching: If you’re ready to do some deep emotional healing, these sessions will take you there. The work gets real, but it’s so worth it.
Highlights of My Trip
Horseback Riding: My favorite experience was riding through the serene desert with Cave Creek Trail Rides. It was peaceful, grounding, and such a beautiful way to connect with nature.
Sedona Wisdom Walk: A private sunset hike on Cathedral Mountain with Professor Todd Denny. Todd (linked here: Wisdom Walk Tour) brought so much insight and calm to the experience.
Breathing Therapy: I took a life-changing class with spiritual coach Veronica Clark. I left feeling completely refreshed and equipped with tools to help with stress, anxiety, and intimacy—tools I’ll use daily. LIFE-CHANGING stuff, for real!
I originally planned to visit Antelope Canyon, but a last-minute rental car issue changed my plans. Instead, I trusted the moment, and with the help of Sedric Ford (CIVANA’s private driver—480-370-8253), I ended up having a much more spiritual and personal experience in Sedona. It was a reminder I often needed… to surrender.
Treat Yourself
Treat yourself to the airport transfer. CIVANA’s service is only a few dollars more than a rideshare—especially during peak hours—and the experience is premium. Fly into PHX (Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport), just 40 minutes from the resort, and request Todd as your driver if you can—he made everything feel seamless and personal.
Quick Tips for Your Solo Adventure
Pack Casual: Swimwear, cozy loungewear, layers for cool nights, hiking boots, and slides. No need for fancy outfits—most people lounge in robes and slippers.
Food Tips: The food at the resort is great for a meal or two, but I spent $120 on room service the first night and thought, “No, ma'am!” For variety, order Uber Eats. Request a microwave—all rooms come with a fridge.
Best Time to Visit: Avoid the spring break crowds in March and the heat in the summer. I personally recommend fall through late February—it’s peaceful, and the weather is perfect.
Safety Tip: Always pack a door alarm for peace of mind. Here’s the one I use: Door Alarm.
Stay Inspired: If this feels like your sign to take a break, hop on a plane and start your adventure. Even a few days can shift your mindset when you change your atmosphere.
