Best Brown Skin-Friendly Sunscreen

Read Time: 8 minutes

At the time of writing this newsletter, I am on the beach soaking up the sun, but I don’t want to compromise my skin health. I love you guys because I couldn’t miss our weekly catch-ups. Peep me trying to get the view and bawdy with my selfie skills. lol

Anywho, Let’s talk about sunscreen…

Ever wonder how celebrities achieve that glass-skin look on the red carpet? Here’s a pro makeup artist tip: we apply spray sunscreen to the body for a non-transfer glow. It gives the skin a radiant, sun-kissed finish without any makeup mess. Now, let’s dive into my favorite sunscreens, which are perfect for all skin tones and especially friendly for brown skin. These sunscreens not only protect your skin but also keep it glowing without any white cast. Your summer look is incomplete if the skin is not glowing!

Why I Prefer Chemical Sunscreens

I personally prefer chemical sunscreens for several reasons. Firstly, they are generally more lightweight and absorb quickly into the skin, making them ideal for daily use under makeup or alone. They also tend to leave no white cast, which is a massive plus for all skin tones, especially for brown skin. Chemical sunscreens often have additional skincare benefits, such as antioxidants, which can help protect against environmental damage.

European and Asian Sunscreens vs. U.S. Standards

It's worth mentioning that Europe and Asia are pretty advanced when it comes to sunscreen formulations. They have access to a wider variety of UV filters, which can provide broader and more stable protection. Many U.S. sunscreens are not as advanced due to slower regulatory updates. The last time the U.S. FDA made significant updates to its sunscreen regulations was in 2011. This means many innovative ingredients used in European and Asian products are not yet available in the U.S. market. The FDA continues to review and approve new ingredients, but the process is often slower than in other regions.
