It’s Time for a Glow Up! Little Changes, Big Impact

 

The season is changing, and I don’t know about you, but I always feel like this is the perfect time to pause, reevaluate, and make some small changes that elevate life in the best ways.

As much as I love grand experiences like traveling or treating myself to a med spa day (you know how much I live for that!), I’ve realized that sometimes it’s the smallest intentions that lead to the biggest transformations.

Here are a few things I’ve been doing lately that have seriously leveled up my life, and I have to share them with you:

1. The Power of Visual Manifestation

You know I’ve always been a big believer in manifesting my dreams, right? But in the past 2 years, I decided to take it a step further by turning my vision board into something I can see every day—right on my phone. It’s more than just pretty pictures; it’s a powerful tool for visual manifestation.

Here’s the thing: when you see your goals in front of you daily, it keeps them alive in your mind. It’s like sending a message to your subconscious that says, “This is where I’m going.” Every time I glance at my phone, I’m reminded of the future I’m working toward, and that constant reminder keeps me focused and motivated.

Visualization is such a powerful way to manifest what you want. 

It’s not just about thinking positively but “seeing” yourself living the life you desire. It’s been proven that when you visualize success, your brain actually starts to create the neural pathways that help turn those dreams into reality. So, every time I see those images, I feel closer to achieving them—and I swear, it’s been working.

And the best part? I’ve done the hard part for you! I created a template for my vision board that you can easily download and use as your own phone wallpaper. 2. Bye-Bye Makeup Wipes, Hello Cleansing Balm

I’ve talked about this before on social media, but are you still using makeup wipes to remove your makeup? No judgment, but I have an alternative that’s been working wonders for me! Don’t get me wrong—makeup wipes are super convenient when you’re on the go or don’t have running water, like when you’re traveling or after a late night out. But for daily use? They’re just not the best. They can be harsh, stripping away natural oils and leaving your skin and eyes feeling dry or irritated.

4. The Power of a Smile: Confidence Starts With You  

There’s no better accessory than a smile. The compliment I get most often is about my smile and how white my teeth are—and I’m kind of obsessed with oral hygiene! Even if you have some crowding (trust me, I’ve been there), or you’re just looking to improve your smile, the easiest way to make a difference is to brighten it up. Especially if you’re a tea or coffee drinker like me, keeping your smile white can really boost your confidence.

Here’s what I’ve learned along the way:

1. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide: SSuper affordable, but be patient it takes time to see results. To use dilute a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution with equal parts water (do not use a higher concentration), swish it in your mouth for 30 seconds, then rinse with water.

Limit use to 2-3 times a week to avoid sensitivity and gum irritation.

2. Whitening powder: Great for sensitive teeth, but slow. I do this as the final step each night after brushing my teeth. Just dip your wet tooth brush in the powder and brush for amount 60-90 secs.

Whitening my teeth has made me smile more, and it’s like my whole face lights up. When you feel good about your smile, it changes everything. It’s the easiest confidence boost!

5. Switched from Tampons to a Menstrual Disc

Okay, real talk: switching from tampons to a menstrual disc has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for both my wallet, my health, and the environment. Not only is it more comfortable, but it also lasts longer and feels cleaner. Plus, recent concerns about tampon safety have made this switch even more important.

I had been using a reusable menstrual disc on and off for a few years, but after this summer’s tampon media news, I was like, 

I made the switch immediately and haven’t looked back.

In July 2024, a study published in Environment International found that tampons from 14 major brands contained toxic metals like lead, arsenic, and cadmium. The FDA is now investigating the potential health risks, which was all the motivation I needed to fully commit to the menstrual disc.

There’s definitely a learning curve, and you might experience some leaking at first, but I promise, once you get the hang of it, you won’t go back! Just wear a liner in the beginning while you get used to it, and go about your day.

Here’s a quick breakdown of why I’m loving the menstrual disc:

Pros:

  • Lasts up to 12 hours without needing to change

  • Reusable and eco-friendly (reduces waste)

  • Cost-effective: A $30-$40 disc lasts months, compared to the average annual cost of $240+ on traditional menstrual options

  • Avoids risks like TSS and exposure to harmful metals

  • More comfortable, especially during workouts

Cons:

  • Takes some getting used to at first. You have to be very comfortable with yourself (if you know what I mean). Be an adult and get familiar with your body—we’re grown, lol!

  • Initial cost is higher than a box of tampons, but it pays off long-term

Switching to a menstrual disc has been a total upgrade for me, and I can confidently say I’m never going back to tampons. If you haven’t tried it yet, I really recommend giving it a shot! 

Bonus: Box Breathing—My Stress-Relief Superpower  

And I had to throw in this bonus tip! Box breathing has become my secret weapon for dealing with stress. It’s so simple—inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold again for 4—and it works wonders. Whether I’m at the gym or just feeling overwhelmed, it helps me reset and calm down. I do it anytime I need a little break from the chaos, and it’s seriously amazing. Try it, and let me know if it helps you too!
