Reignite Your Inner Creative—Make Time to Play

Quick question—when was the last time you played?

Like, no agenda, no productivity, just pure, unstructured fun?

I’ve been reading The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, and one thing it’s reminded me of is how important it is to just play—to do things simply because they bring joy. And honestly, I’ve been doing this for years without even realizing it. I call them my ‘Me Days’—days where I wake up with no plans and let myself roam. Today was one of those days.

I wandered through a bookstore, flipping through journals. Picked up my bass guitar and played just because. Sat in the park, watching birds and listening to kids laugh. Stopped by Sephora to swatch makeup, not because I needed anything, but just for the fun of it. I colored, I danced, I moved my body at the gym—not for a goal, but because it felt good.

And it got me thinking—so many of us, especially as women, spend all our time taking care of others. Even when we focus on self-care, it’s usually something structured, like getting a facial or sticking to a routine. But real play? The kind that taps into the little girl inside us? That often gets left behind.

And maybe that’s why beauty has always been so special to me. It’s one of the few things that still feels like play. Think about it—how many of us first fell in love with beauty as kids, sneaking into our mom’s makeup bag, smearing on lipstick (probably all wrong) just to see how it felt? Makeup was never about perfection—it was about play.

That’s exactly why I created Thuto Labs. Yeah, it’s about learning how to do your makeup, but it’s also about giving you the confidence to have fun with it. To experiment. To explore. To see the best version of yourself staring back in the mirror and know you have the skills to make that happen.

And listen, I’ve been so deep in work mode with Blow Like a Pro, my next course, that I forgot to take my own advice. I’ve been learning new editing software, delegating tasks, and perfecting every detail—but this week, I decided to slow down. To live with more intention. To play. And guess what? It felt amazing.

So here’s my promise—to myself and to you. Thuto Labs will be ready soon, but I’m not rushing it. When it’s ready, you’ll be the first to know. But until then, I’m choosing to live. To play.

And I hope you do the same.

With love you big (or lil) sis,
Tiff
