Skincare Routine For Fungal Acne
Listen or Read Time: 11 minutes
Did You Know?
Washing your face with your hands is like brushing your teeth with your finger. My dermatologist recommends using a washcloth to cleanse your face and gently exfoliate daily.
My skincare routine includes both over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription products. The AM and PM routines are similar, differing only in the final step: SPF in the mornings and moisturizer in the evenings.
Many skincare products have active ingredients that require specific application instructions, and certain areas, like the neck and eyes, must be avoided.
Please remember that I am not a medical professional, and this information should not be used to self-treat or diagnose.
Oh yeah...and the FTC wants me to tell you that the links you may click are commission-based, and I get a very, very small amount if you buy something.
Prescription and OTC Products
Many of the products in my regimen are available at the drugstore (OTC over-the-counter), while others are prescription-only (Rx). These Rx products have higher concentrations of active ingredients.
My AM and PM skincare routines are very similar, with the only difference being the final step of applying SPF (mornings) and moisturizer (evenings). I have two skincare routines, one after laser and chemical peels and another that is long-term.
Short-Term Skincare Routine: Post Laser and Peel (2-weeks) AM and PM
Apply CeraVe Hydrating Makeup Cleansing Balm (optional PM only)
Wash face and body with LaRoche Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleanser
Wash face and body with Ketoconazole Cleansing Shampoo - sit for 2-5 mins
Apply Polished Complexion Correction Pads (OTC) - including eyes
Apply a gentle anti-inflammatory cream to the entire face, neck, eyes
Apply an anti-fungal cream (OTC or Rx) to the face and neck
Apply an acne treatment cream (Rx) to the face - avoid the neck and eyes!
AM Only - Apply ELTA Tinted Sunscreen or IUNIK Sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours of daylight, including eyes
PM Only - Apply La Roche Posay Moisturizer (OTC)
This short-term regimen is temporary and necessary because your skin needs lipids and extra hydration after the laser treatments.
Long-Term Skincare Routine AM and PM
Apply CeraVe Hydrating Makeup Cleansing Balm (optional PM only)
Wash face and body with LaRoche Posay Lipikar AP+ Gentle Foaming Cleanser
Wash face and body with Ketoconazole Cleansing Shampoo - sit for 2-5 mins
Wash face and body with Polished Skin Bright Body and Face Wash
Apply Polished Complexion Correction Pads (OTC) - including eyes
Apply Polished Acne Pads to the face, not the neck. Avoid the eyes.
Apply German Aesthetics Vitamin C Serum or Mad Hippie Vitamin C
Apply an anti-fungal cream (OTC or Rx) to the face and neck
Apply an acne treatment cream (Rx), a pea-size amount, to the face. Avoid the neck and eyes!
Apply La Roche Posay Moisturizer (OTC)
AM Only - Apply ELTA Tinted Sunscreen or IUNIK Sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours of daylight, including eyes
